The National Pool – Better (None)

Very nice imagery for the single Better, by The National Pool. I guess you could call a lake a national pool. A very large, not very well maintained or upkept or sanitary public pool. With fish living in it. An ocean is like... a worldpool.

Video time…

So, I just finished watching this. I really enjoyed the music and the video! The video’s got a lot of lo-res / lo-bit, sparsely toned footage, much of which feels like you’re watching clips from VR games, as well as shots of the artist singing. It’s a really cool lo-budge lo-tech video, I highly recommend giving it a watch.

The music for this single, ‘Better’, is also very intriguing. His voice sounds like it is being effected by 20 layers of autotune or vocoding, arranged in a large chorus! The sounds are all chill, throbbing bell chords, running water, synth pads and sequences all very lovely. And those chunky synth toms!!! The lyrics are about that feeling, like you’ve got to get out of the mess you’re in because you know there’s something better out there.

So, it’s like… this is pretty much a perfect single. Maybe even a little too perfect. *paranoia sets in* … I think this artist will need to have their music investigated further! Thankfully, there’s a lot more of it here:
