The Biscuits – That Dolly Dog Seems Alright

Artist: The Biscuits
Title: That Dolly Dog Seems Alright
Keywords: experimental punk auckland feedback noise pop London
Label: Dubbed Tapes

This tape won’t play any tricks on you, it’s one tape to catch a bullet for. It’s filled with excellent time defying music by a band from Auckland, New Zealand, one that don’t grow grass over its potential. With an excellent energy they will throw you in a muddling pool of psychedelic punk in which guitars seems to dominate, drums function as muffled backbones and an angry front vocal as the expressionistic Joan of arc against the establishment.

Too much of this would be an impossible thing to achieve; their glorious take to bring their expressive attitude on a vibrant mix of hypnotic riffs is as if eating magic mushrooms would help to make multiple colored Mohawks grow! It’s a unique blend of upbeat vibrations while at the same time sounding truthfully to anger and hypnotic arts in music form. They are as rough as you could find, but their sound is perfectly living on these tapes as if it’s the only thing that could house them. But once you spin this album their songs fly over and around your head, filling up the cars or your homes or simply just ‘you’ with an fair amount of positive toxic flair that will make you want to bump your head and stick your nose in the air.

They give so much energy, go in with all fours, spreading the soundtrack to either smash things up, run to your bus stop, have incredible sex with or… well basically the scenes that you could do with this spinning around in your tape deck is as good as endless. Even going through your own ravaged living room & cleaning up the mess will becoming a joy with the sound of the biscuits around. Also everything seems to go much quicker too! As if they are having captured the secrets of time and know how to fast forward it!

There are many favorites on this tape, yet they all seem so connected into one big continuous pool of sound that I could only view all the songs as a case of ‘one for all and all together as one.’ A continuous flow of headbangers, one that could be played over and over again and would never give up giving you that prolific energy. The Biscuits will spice up your activities through their presence and only thing left to say is that That Dolly Dog Seems Alright certainly seems more than alright!
